  Tracking a Tagged Cod

One of the key aims of this research program is to provide feedback to individuals reporting recaptured tagged cod as quickly as possible. To do so, we have developed an online GIS mapping interface which can provide feedback on any fish already entered in the database.

This tool can be used to track an individual recaptured tagged cod; to create a map and report*, specific recapture information must be entered, e.g. tag #, location caught, date, etc.

The mapping site can also be used to summarize information from multiple tagged cod. For example, you can query how many fish have been tagged and released to date; where these releases were; who tagged the cod and how many have been recaptured. The data is displayed visually on an interactive map of the study region.

* Disclaimer: The recapture reports generated are only as accurate as the recapture data which is reported.
