To report a tagged cod
  What To Do If You Find a Tagged Cod

Please help us collect recapture information from the tagged cod you find. For further information on why we need your tags, please click here.

Step 1: Data collection

We are collecting a variety of information from each tagged cod in this program. If possible please collect the following details at the time of capture:

1) Date 5) Water temperature
2) Tag # 6) Depth fished
3) Location 7) Gear type
4) Fish Length 8) Spawning condition

Please don't forget to save the tag! If the tagged cod is of legal size, and you choose to land/keep it, please collect the data outlined above, then remove and retain the tag. GMRI collects all physical tags for tag # verification.

Step 2: Reporting a tagged cod

If you catch a tagged cod, you are eligible for a REWARD.

To report your tagged cod and claim your reward, you can do any of the following:

Call our toll-free number: 1-866-447-2111, or

Email tagging@gmri.org.

Mail your tag(s) and information directly to us using the datasheets we've mailed to you in the past, or by downloading one from this website.

If you report your tagged cod by phone or email, we will request that you also mail the tag to us. If you report your tag by mail, using our datasheets, please also include the tag in the envelope.
